ABS Diet
The Abs Diet was created by Mr. David Zinczenko, the editor of ‘Men’s Health’ magazine. For every extra 1 pound of muscle you gain, your body burns an extra 50 calories a day. The Abs Diet plan aims to help you build more muscle. Eating the right foods and exercising so that your body burns fat faster, with the result that you lose weight. This diet stresses upon certain foods called ‘Twelve Power Foods’. The book is primarily aimed at men and the golden principals can be applied to women too. These fundamentals have been applied for years by majority of athletes, fitness instructors and students, and body builders. The book recommends 5 to 6 meals per day and many experts have advised this time and again. Other things like building muscle, eating lean proteins and using whole grain unrefined carbohydrates are advocated. When you eat carbohydrates, they break down into glucose, which is stored as glycogen in the muscles and liver. This stored glycogen carries with it three times extra water as its own weight. Surprisingly many dieters forget to take care of these things and often resort to reduction in calories intake. The book contains many often mentioned bright and sensible ideas to lose fat.
The book looks quite similar to ‘Body For Life’, is titles ‘The Abs Diet’. People generally consider that visible abs is the mark of a good body. Reducing the levels of fat in the body will lead you to visible abdominal muscles, but this is not easy. Thus the diet program also insists on strength and weight training. This is based on the premise that building muscle increases metabolism, which will assist in burning fat. This is what the author says: “....you can't spot reduce per se. That's a myth. But if people lose weight - particularly if they're doing some moderate exercise at the same time - they'll lower their body fat and will likely notice that loss in their bellies since that's where most of the fat lives….” Experience shows that belly is the last place that fat disappears from. The book contains good guide to basic nutrition, success stories, detailed information about the power-foods, a 7-day diet plan and illustrated exercises. High-fiber foods like fruits and vegetables supply plenty of bulk to your meals, that too without adding a lot of calories, they keep you feeling full longer and help you lose weight. Researchers conclude that lowfat diets work but they must also be high in fiber. Such foods are fruits, vegetables and whole grains, all of which fill you up on fewer calories and less fat. Increase your fiber intake slowly over the course of 3 to 4 weeks and drink plenty of water to keep food moving through your system.
