Ionamin is an appetite suppressant and belongs to medications called anorexiants. If diet alone has not worked then this medicine is also used along with the recommended diet. While each ionamin 30 mg capsule is printed with “IONAMIN 30” and is printed in black. The ionamin 30 tablets contains calcium phosphate, D&C Yellow No.10, FD&C Yellow No.6, gelatin, lactose, magnesium state, polacrilin potassium, and titanium dioxide.
but it should not be used by persons having following conditions or diseases:
a. Person taking MAO inhibitors, such as phenelzine or tranylcypromine, or has used them within the past 14 days.
b. Person with glaucoma. Glaucoma refers to a group of disorders that lead to damage to the optic nerve.
c. Person is allergic to sympathomimetic amines or to any of the ingredients of the medication.
d. Person is taking any of the class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants.
e. Person with moderate to severe high blood pressure i.e. hypertension.
f. Person with a condition known as pulmonary artery hypertension.
g. Person has a heart murmur or valvular heart disease.
h. Peron having advanced arteriosclerosis.
i. Person has symptomatic heart disease.
j. Person has a history of drug abuse.
k. Person with an overactive thyroid.
l. Person subject to agitated states.
Ionamin medication has some side effects. The effect of side effects must be discussed with your physician. Guidance of your doctor may help you deal with some of these side effects. Some of these side effects may go away as you become used to them.
