Sacred Heart Diet

The Sacred Heart Medical diet plan can be called a cleansing diet, as it will clean your digestive system of all the impurities. The diet was supposedly thought to come from the cardiology department at Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital where it was used for overweight heart patients. This seven-day diet plan is so designed that you may repeat it as many times as you like. It is suggested that after completion of this 7-days diet plan you may lose as much as 10 to 17 pounds and yet have abundance of energy and vitality. After one week on this diet stay off the diet for at-least two days before resuming the diet again. It has a close resemblance to cabbage soup diet.

Soup: Use following to prepare the soup.
i. 1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
ii. 3 plus large green onions
iii. 1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
iv. 1 package Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
v. 1 bunch of celery
vi. 2 cans green beans
vii. 2 lbs. Carrots
viii. 2 Green Peppers

According to your taste add salt pepper, parsley, bouillon or Worcestershire sauce. Reduce the flame or heat to let them simmer till vegetables are tender. Your soup is ready and can be eaten as and when hungry during the week. This soup can be taken in any quantity and many times, as you like. This soup does not add up many calories. You may take it to your workplace in a thermos for eating at lunch break.

Following drinks are recommended during this diet:
i. Fresh juices or unsweetened juices
ii. Tea or including herbal tea
iii. Coffee
iv. Cranberry juice
v. Skim milk
vi. Water, lot of water

Sacred Heart Diet Plan For Seven Days

DAY ONE: Take fruits of any kind except bananas. Concentrate on cantaloupes and watermelon, as they are lower in calories than most other fruits. Your today’s diet is soup and fruit only.

DAY TWO: This day is reserved for vegetables and soup all day long. Top preference is for leafy vegetables and eat them in raw or boiled or cooked form in any quantity you like. Avoid peas, dry beans and corn. No fruits for today in any form or shape. Reward yourself with baked potato with butter.

DAY THREE: Today you will eat a combination of soup, veggies and fruits as per your liking. But make sure that you take no potato with or without butter. Experts say that if you have followed the program correctly you should lose 5 to seven pounds.

DAY FOUR: Today take bananas and skim milk. Take three bananas and drink plenty of milk. Soup as prepared in the beginning is to taken along with this diet. Now your body needs potassium and carbohydrates. Bananas are high in calories and carbs and milk also has them. Eating proteins and calcium reduces ones desire for sweets.

DAY FIVE: Today is the day of tomatoes and beef. Use 10 to 20 ounces of beef with a can of tomato. Can of tomato can be replaced with 6 fresh tomatoes. Ofcourse, soup stays with you and eat this soup at-least once.

DAY SIX: Today eat beef and veggies to you fill i.e. till you feel satisfied. Beef can be eaten in the form of 2-3 steaks with green leafy vegetables. Potatoes is in the prohibited list today. Soup again stays with you and should eat it atleast once.

DAY SEVEN: Seventh day is for rice and vegetables. You are permitted to drink unsweetened fruit juice preferably fresh juice. Canned juices are normally sugar added. Soup again stays with you and eat today also. Cooked vegetables may be added to the brown rice.

This diet has provided fast results because it emphasizes on burning more calories than consumed. Digestive System is flushed off the impurities and gives a feeling of well-being. It has been observed that you will have more energy after the third day. Basic and most important part of the diet the basic vegetable soup, which must be eaten as and when feel hungry. It is not to be skipped even if not feeling hungry. No meat but eat chicken, but it must be skinless. Eat beef only when it is prescribed on the beef day. Do take plenty of water i.e. 6 to 8 glasses of it. You can add black coffee, natural fruit drinks but unsweetened, and skimmed milk. Do not take carbonated drinks, including diet drinks and no fried foods.
